Being the Ordinary Holy Person
Sitting recently before the awe-inspiring splendor of Ammachi, India’s “hugging saint,” I felt small & insignificant. My little self & my humble works on this planet could in no way compare to the grandeur & accomplishments of this great being.
I was but a woman. She was considered by some to be a living emanation of the Goddess Kali.
She was capable of passing love, light & healing to thousands in one day, day after day, with barely a break. She’d raised & donated millions to help others.
What was the point of my own halting efforts to help others heal & awaken? How could I even consider myself worthy of this task when I was so wounded, unreasonable & imperfect? What hubris!
Besieged by such thoughts, I continued to sit in meditation along with her ministers & the hundreds of other seekers gathered at her ashram in San Ramon, CA, that Saturday.
And something happened.
I took the advice of my clairvoyant friend Jenai Lane, who’d invited me along, to “access directly the 3 light beings who work with Amma & who sit behind her.” As I began to tap into my imagination of these beings, I had the subtle sense of a massive sparkling white light coming into me, down from my crown all the way to my 3rd chakra.
I hesitated letting the light in below my heart: Would it bind me in some kind of spiritual contract I didn’t want? It wasn’t my path to be a devotee of any living guru in this lifetime.
I was reassured that the light was pure, so I let it come into my lower chakras. Working with an image Jenai had clairvoyantly seen, I unwound them in counter clockwise fashion & let the light release yet more trauma, stuckness & wounding there. I finally let the light come all the way down to my root.
White Light of Blessing
As a priestess of Persephone, I don’t consider myself a “love and lighter.” I’m not used to white light, and I have largely been suspicious of it, because clairvoyantly I’ve seen that white light in people’s fields is sometimes the sign of energy being “blanked out.” And I’ve seen too many people who claim to be working with white light who are still operating from their pain body & have a shadow a mile long.
But this light I was receiving was not just the kind of sheet white I’ve seen in my clients. This was a nutritive, rich white light. It sparkled with an inner iridescence. I can only describe it as a combination of dark & light together. What I was sensing was subtle, but I knew from my years of clairvoyant training to accept that it was real.
And the thoughts came to me:
“We pass the light onto Amma & she passes the light onto others. Now you, by receiving this light directly, will pass it onto others, as well. It’s not something she or anyone owns. It’s freely available & transmittable.
“All anyone need do to transmit this light is to take up the commitment to do so. It doesn’t matter if you’re big or small, perfect or imperfect. All that matters is that you want to be a conduit. This devoted commitment makes you a holy woman.”
I was reminded of the image of the Tetraktus, a triangle made of 10 points that was a favorite teaching tool of Pythagoras. I understood the meaning of this image more deeply now. The one passes the light to the two, then the three, then the four, and the light goes out exponentially from there.
Really the transmission of the light is more like the branching of the family tree. I saw that this was the original intention of human reproduction: to spread the light all the way down the family line.
Being a Light Bearer
During the meditation with Amma I understood that at any given time, I could pass on this light to others with intention.
I was shown that during the Seven Sisters Solstice ceremony on Dec 20, for example, I’ll spend time that day to access this light once again. During the event, I’ll help generate a field of light so it may be passed on to others as part of the intended heart activation experience.
I saw that it’s not hubris to take on the role of the holy woman at all. It’s a deep soul calling that is legitimated by your own loving desire to be of service.
It doesn’t require perfection, because even Amma herself is far from perfect, as various devotees who’ve been close to her attest. She’s a human woman born into duality, as are we all. Being a light bearer simply requires intention, focus & commitment.
As I opened my eyes at the conclusion of my meditation & turned to Jenai, she said, “I was working with a tremendous field of white light.”
I exclaimed, “I was too!” The validation of my experience was given.
That night, in an unlikely place, a bar with a band playing loud funk music, a woman I didn’t know approached me, wide-eyed. “You have so much light around you!” she exclaimed. “It’s like you’re radiating light!” The next night at a concert, again, a woman I didn’t know said, “You have such brightness in your face!”
How to Be a Holy Person
Close your eyes. Breathe; ground & center yourself. Tap into the 3 beings of light that work behind & through Amma. Use your imagination.
Let that crystalline white light come down through your crown & all the way down to your root.
Let it empower you, feed you & talk to you. Listen to its messages. Then radiate it out – to your family, to people on the street, to unsuspecting souls in bars & at concerts.
The world needs your holiness. There’s no time to lose.
