They were both accused of sexual impropriety. Mary Magdalene, of serving as a prostitute. Queen Guinevere, of betraying Arthur either by succumbing to seduction by his nephew (some say his son) Mordred, or by having an affair with Lancelot.
Yet we are now coming to see both of these women in a new light.
Scholarship over the past few decades has helped us see Magdalene as a leader of the apostles and a very close companion of Jesus. The Gnostic Gospel of Mary (Magdalene), for example, shows us that she was Jesus’ favored disciple, the recipient of special esoteric information about the nature of the soul’s passage after death. The Gospel of Phillip tells us that she was kissed by Jesus frequently.
And countless people all over the planet have discerned through cultural stories and their own inner knowing that Magdalene was nothing short of a high priestess, and even the wife of Jesus and mother of his child.
And what about Guinevere? Did she betray Arthur by willingly falling into bed with Mordred? Or was she in fact forced into it against her will? Did she fall in love with and consummate a relationship with Lancelot? (Is there actually anything wrong with that, if so?) Or could this tale be a later insertion into their history, something made up by a French author so as to provide soap-opera level entertainment to the court that he served?
Aside from these dramatic stories attributed to her, which indicate that her perfidies were actually the cause of Arthur’s death in battle, Guinevere has been a shadowy figure in the old literature of the days of King Arthur, a neither-here-nor-there personage. We are told she is beautiful, but little is said about her directly, except, in the later texts, where we hear she is abducted (read: and raped) by an assortment of military commanders. She is also described as having some kind of “twin,” as well, and/or a sister with whom she has an acrimonious relationship.
To uncover the deeper divine identity of Guinevere, we must sleuth around other clues, like the exalted meaning of her name, and various aspects of her lineage. And, truly, as with Magdalene, we must look at everything with our intuition, we must access her on the inner dimensions.
As with Magdalene’s it’s time for Guinevere to be restored to her rightful place as Queen among Queens on planet earth, In restoring her, we go another measure to restore the Feminine on earth and within ourselves, for the great balancing and healing that needs to happen at this time.
These are the times we are in; this is the opportunity.
In my new course, Heal Yourself & Our World by Reclaiming Guinevere, Arthur, the Fae & the Round Table, we will take this journey to uncover Guinevere, looking at the revelations of author Wendy Berg and oracle Lisa Renee to find out more. We’ll discover a Guinevere who, like Magdalene, has an exalted story, one that was also fraught with challenge and even tragedy.
And we’ll discover a Guinevere who was, in fact, a parallel being to Magdalene in her role as the feminine power player in the Sacred Marriage of the Christos-Sophia.
I hope this has intrigued you, and that you will join us for this course, by registering HERE.
