The Quiet Return to Well-Being

Peace. Relaxation. Trust. Well-Being. As I sit here overlooking the bay of Cape Cod, these are the seed words that drift into my meditation, whispered to me from the inner space of my star allies. As breath and a wee bit of cacao begin their warm play through my body, I realize how far from these states I often live. How far, perhaps, we all live.

Do you feel it, too, that beneath the surface calm that many of us try to maintain hums a collective restlessness? We’re anxious about so many things… money, our roles as caretakers, our health, our families. We carry invisible lists of what must be done, what others should be doing, what we ourselves “should” feel or achieve. And when life ~ or the people we love ~ don’t conform to our inner timetable, we contract. We grow irritable, impatient, judgmental. We ask that people be other than who and what they are.

The Plague of the Age

My Master allies tell me that in the spirit realms, this condition looks like a fine static that clouds the aura of humanity. And they remind me that this is not the result of any sort of wrongdoing on the part of our race. Rather, it’s a forgetting. They concur with me that the loss of felt well-being is really the great plague of our time. Even in lands not torn by war, even among those with safety and resources, there is a subtle famine of peace. We are spiritually under-rested.

We have been trained to measure love by effort, to prove our worth through constant doing. Yet true devotion ~ to others, to Spirit, to the Earth ~ can’t flourish in depletion. The heart that is always “on duty” begins to close in self-protection. This is not a moral failure, it’s simply the natural response of our soul.

The Marys Speak of the Breath

Mother Mary reminds me that peace is our authentic state ~ just as Jesus reminded his apostles of this continually by greeting them with his famous “peace be with you.” She says that our nervous system is a temple. When we breathe as she breathed, slowly, through the heart, we re-consecrate it.

Mary Magdalene adds that relaxation is sacred. It’s how your feminine currents rise again after contraction. She says to let your body remember what it feels like to not be responsible for everyone’s harmony.

And my guide Electra of the Pleiades weaves with them that trust is the bridge between the seen and the unseen. When you trust, even for a few breaths, the field reorganizes around you. Energy begins to flow toward rather than away from your well-being. That shifts your reality.

Balancing the Currents of Giving

Many of us who walk the priestess, healer, or teacher path have learned to give first and rest later. Yet the cosmic design is reciprocal: giving and receiving are two halves of the same breath. We can’t exhale love endlessly without inhaling grace.

To live in balance, we must listen for the moment when service becomes strain, when generosity begins to taste like resentment. That moment is not a failure or selfishness ~ it’s the signal that the cup needs refilling. The Marys teach that to pause is not to withdraw love, it’s to make space for its renewal.

Boundaries as Love

The Marys also tell me that healthy boundaries are not walls but “membranes of truth.” These gentle membranes say: This is how I can love you without abandoning myself. They arise naturally when we commit to our own peace. You don’t have to argue for them, you embody them. A calm nervous system radiates clarity that no one can mistake.

If someone’s rhythm is different from yours, if they live faster, louder, or in ways that tire you, you may bless and honor them ~ but you can still choose quiet over engagement, solitude over participation. Spirit honors both connection and discernment.

The Practice of Well-Being

Try this simple attunement, especially when the world feels like too much:

  1. Place your hand on your heart and whisper, Peace.
  2. Soften your shoulders, and whisper, Relaxation.
  3. Feel the ground beneath you, and whisper, Trust.
  4. Sense a gentle current rising through your spine, and whisper, Well-being.

Hold these words not as goals but as gateways to your original design. You were born of well-being. It’s your home frequency.

Returning to the Bay

As I write, I see the image of calm waters lapping the edge of the sand here on this curving peninsula. In this moment, as I remind myself that nothing must be fixed, that no one must change, that the waves carry everything that is unfinished… I feel… at peace. The relaxation, the trust, the sense of well-being returns.

May we each reclaim our birthright of well-being, not as luxury but as human necessity. For when we live from peace, we become the medicine the world is secretly asking for. Self-healing becomes healing for all, in that beautiful figure eight.
