What makes Dr. Rigoglioso a particularly well-qualified instructor for these workshops:

Marguerite Rigoglioso, Ph.D., is not only an experienced author & university instructor, but she’s climbed the ropes she talks about in these workshops: She turned several of her graduate papers into published articles & continues to transform her doctoral dissertation into the authorship of several books.

Rigoglioso’s first groundbreaking volume, The Cult of Divine Birth in Ancient Greece (Palgrave Macmillan 2009), reveals the existence of an entire network of priestesses dedicated to miraculous conception in Mediterranean antiquity. The second, Virgin Mother Goddesses of Antiquity (Palgrave Macmillan 2010), offers a unique feminist view of the oldest cults to Graeco-Roman goddesses as well as a stunning new interpretation of the Eleusinian Mysteries & Thesmophoria dedicated to Demeter and Persephone. Marguerite’s latest exploration arrives in the form of her award-winning new offering, The Mystery Tradition of Miraculous Conception: Mary and the Lineage of Virgin Births, and she continues to write & publish today.

Dr. Rigoglioso worked a chapter of her master’s thesis into an article published in the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion on the cult to Demeter & Persephone at Lake Pergusa in Sicily, which was given an honorable mention for the journal’s New Scholar Award. Her academic articles have also appeared in the anthologies Societies of Peace & She Is Everywhere! as well as Feminist Theology, Trivia, The Encyclopedia of Religion and Nature, and other publications.
