It’s been a particularly bumpy ride of late as I’ve learned that my father has suddenly developed a fast-acting leukemia & all sorts of other family dynamics have been kicked up by my presence back on the East Coast, where I am parked for a while now as part of my writing pilgrimage.
So I was particularly grateful to be with several hundred soul kin who gathered at the spectacular Skalitude Retreat Center in Twisp, Washington, for the 19th annual congress. This year’s theme was Embody the Magic of Re-Union between the Realms, and amidst workshops, ritual, music & frolicking we certainly did just that. Ah, the pause that refreshes!
My Takeaways
Highlights for me included attending workshops by Michael Dunning, Rionagh na Ard (pictured with her daughter) & Orion Foxwood.
From Michael Dunning, I learned an esoteric technique taught to him by the Sidhe (a tall elf faery race strongly related to humans): the process of turning the heart “inside out” and then having it travel out to the horizon or to a sacred mountain to be fortified by these great faery allies.
I invite you to try it. By visualizing your heart flipping, you can create a new sensory surface for it, which turns it into a more heightened organ of perception, emotion & love. By traveling it out to the edges of the land & letting the horizon or a mountain “breath into you,” you will receive new energy of the Sidhe into your blood.
The Sidhe, he said, primarily work from the heart & they are teaching us how to do so as part of our evolution from 3D density back to our own original Sidhe etheric nature. Yes, it’s been a long ride since we split from our common ancestor with the Sidhe & decided to become more material.
From Rionagh na Ard, I learned that the word “Sidhe” means “mound,” and this refers to the portals in & around the earth through which the Sidhe travel between our worlds. They have been known as “the Shining Ones,” the Manitou of Native Americans, the Tuatha de Danann of the Celtic Isles, the High Elves of Tolkien & more.
By talking about her own literal “marriage” with a Sidhe guide known as Niall, Rionagh affirmed for me the reality of conversing & relating with these subtle allies. She validated what I’ve been experiencing – that you can call on these allies any time of day or night for guidance, support, upliftment, teachings & healing. They are here for us personally and they are here to help the human collective make it through this great transition & initiation.

From Orion Foxwood I was refortified in my understanding that we are all great beings endowed with infinite magical abilities to influence reality in positive ways. If you see a problem in the world, don’t despair, just “witch up” & start your manifestation magic going through visualization, prayer & word spell.
He also advised us to be aware of the “4 dampers” that keep us hooked into negativity: the illusion of isolation, the desire to possess, resentment toward change, and the desire for absolutes.
One statement of his was particularly stunning for me: “Fundamentalism is an expression of the terror of abandonment. If [the person espousing fundamentalist viewpoints is] not 100 percent right then that means they’re 100 percent wrong, and that means they will be abandoned & exiled [by God].”
My Own Workshops
With the increasing legalization of cannabis in the US bringing challenges along with great boons, I was specifically invited to offer a workshop at the congress on how to work with the Deva of Cannabis so as to keep our relationship to this plant ally sacred. My Personal Work with the Sidhe
All weekend the faeries & Sidhe were helping me with personal requests for guidance. Their basic teachings were for me to continue to look at the glass half full (or more) in any life situation. They also invited me to keep “flipping it” every time I was faced with a challenge so as to not react with anger or fear, but to respond with curiosity & compassion. My responses are a choice.
Finally, they are working with me to “unhook” from the astrological grid so that I am less & less at the effect of the energies of planets & astral bodies, and more & more sovereign and connected directly to the Divine.
I’m grateful to Lindsey Swope, one of the main organizer of the Congress, for having invited me to this grand event. I’m also grateful to the many other organizers & participants who brought their hearts, spirits, brilliance & merriment to this event, including our allies on the other side.
