Loving through Strife
How do I expect terrorists, mass murderers & police officers to stop their brutality if I can’t resolve issues with people in my immediate circle?
You know what I’m talking about. When you get into a conflict with someone, what you perceive as their shortcomings can take on gargantuan proportions & you may forget what you even liked about them. You can find yourself in a 24/7 slug fest on the inner planes.
Here’s what I’ve learned from working through recent conflicts:
• If you’re involved in Peace work, as I am, just know that Strife will inevitably show up on your doorstep with all of her luggage. Don’t be disillusioned. We’re living in duality and it can be a bee-aaach!
• Expect to feel inadequate, because here you are, a spiritual person, carrying on inside your mind like the worst of the worst.
• Engage in Matt Kahn’s “go to”: Tell yourself, “It’s OK that I’m feeling… angry, disappointed, abandoned…” etc.
• Remember to ask spirit for help. You may not know intellectually how this thing is going to be resolved, but put it up there & trust.
• Take responsibility for your Shadow in the encounter. Be as honest with yourself as you possibly can. What’s the pain under the anger? How old is that pain? How are you resorting to judgment, demands, or victimization behavior as a habitual default? Be honest but gentle with yourself around it.
• Get vulnerable with the other person. Share what’s really going on for you under your judgment or rage. Be willing to cry.
• Hear the other person with as much neutrality as you can. Recognize that this person’s vulnerability or old pain is getting triggered, too.
• Realize that on the soul level you’ve both agreed to the situation as a means of dealing with your shadow patterns & healing some of that pain.
• Understand that one or both of you taking radical responsibility for your Shadow contributes to the healing of ALL conflict. The microcosmic defusing of strife in this way positively affects the entire hologram. It strengthens the grids of harmony.
• See any responsibility taking as a gift to the planet. Your life & what you do matter, much more than you realize.
• Recognize that coming back into positive regard for one another through self-honesty & compassion is the equivalent of becoming the famous butterfly who beats her wings & shifts an entire weather pattern halfway around the world.
A Mary’s Eye Perspective
Lately I’m realizing that I’m always going to encounter unreasonableness in others. There’s no perfect person, no perfect community. And, of course, I’m always going to find it in myself.
But what happens when you can’t come to resolution with someone? My friend Vajra Ma points out that it’s ultimately an inside job, and you’re not dependent on anyone else cooperating on your coming to awareness & peaceful resolution of your own Shadow dynamics.
That leaves you with how, then, to hold the other person.
My therapist Deborah Morris said something the other day that got me thinking: The ultimate response is not just to tolerate others’ foibles, but to fully love those you perceive to be wrongdoers.
With the feasts of the Immaculate Conception & the Virgin of Guadalupe this past week, I’ve had Mary on my mind. I’ve been thinking about how the Blessed Mother must see terrorists, secret government operators, police who harm Black men, suicide bombers, rapists, those possessed beyond repair & others some may see as problems.
What if… What if it were possible to hold the most infected evildoer as the most beloved child? “You are perfect in my eyes…” “I love you just as you are…” Not endorsing their views, not colluding with their behavior, not becoming their doormat. Just simply loving them.
What is it to be at that level of vibration?
I’m letting this seep in & penetrate at the 5th Dimensional level as a vision for myself & humanity, as a Divine Child I’m birthing within me at this hallowed time of year.
